Im guted!!

I bought a custom console from UK

http://www.custom-consoles.co.uk/contact.html

for the traverler. they guy custom made it for a snug fit & it fited great.

one of the guys said he can fit it for me for nothing while they do the other stuff. Im like yeh cool ok!

well he decided it needed to be cut it up to fit & he chipped all the carbon fibre up! i should have just done this my self!!! dam it!

so Im not sure what i should do. ADVICE?

it was such a simple fit i had fitted it in & out before my self., Dreaming how it would look when the car is all finished.

now they want to super glue it back together & keep saying i wont see it cause the sits will cover it. not really the point do you agree??

Im thinking i should hit them up right at the end when i pick up the keys in my hand as Im about to pay & take $500 of the bill.

that's what it cost me!

Why did you give a $500 console already made to fit to somebody to modify to into a car you already had it in?

Doing it at the end is not the way to go about it. Approach them now and come to some form of agreement. You asked them to perform a service which they did not provide and therefore are within your right to ask them to replace the item or provide you with a reimbursement of some form.

How bad is the damage?
Will you actually see it? (i know its not the point, but it might not be reasonable to ask for all the money back)
What was the company actually installing? (i'm guessing its not the same company as the one who built the console....you post was a bit confusing)

I feel your pain....sometimes its easier to do yourself.

no i took it out so they can wire they car up & pipe aircon etc so there was more room to move in the car & weld a hole in the floor.

i did not give them to modify anything thats the thing.

he did it of his own back cause he could not get it to fit back in & thought it needed to be cut.

so when i got back into the shop it was cut up & i said wtf have you done.

what a dick.

they are finishing of the car, just things i don't know how to do my self, dyno tune the car, fit gearbox, weld floor hole up, wire car & pipe whats left to do on the Aircon. loads of jobs well worth the $2000 mark.

when you pay good money you want a proper job not a cowboy job, what's to stop them from jacking up the price at the end? if i go to them now.

i see what you are saying but it was a brand new $500 item. custom made, even if you cant see it. it's still there!!

so now he wants to super glue what he cut back together.IMO it is really not the same Im sorry. I'm happy if they replace the parts but he seems now to only replace the part he chiped but what he hacked up he thinks super glue will be fine.

he just told me he had to cut my Mini LCB (stage 2) extractor, with special centre pipe, Maniflow cause they pointed to the right!! it's weird he tells me.

i hope this is bloody normal they are mini extractors should just be a bolt on??

maybe i should stop what they are doing on the car & take it some where else.

Im starting to stress out now, Im going to kill if they fiddle sticks my car.

sorry lads just venting needing opinions.

Sorry if you took that the wrong way... I would be asking for it to be replaced.... but what I was saying was talk to them about it now, trying to get them to adjust the price after all the work is done is going to be hard. Tell them what you want now, don't leave it till its too late or else it will become a crap fight.

Did you agree on a price at the beginning of the work for the whole job?

If your communication with them is anything like your communication here I'm not surprised that they don't know what you want done :!:

yes sorry..

i typed that in anger quickly & hit the submit button.

Anyways they hacked the crap out of my console for no reason. i want it too be like it arrived in it's box. new!

i did not tell him to modify anything! he just did it on his own back cause it would not fit, he over locked the 2 pissy screws holding it together for the moment, i did this so nothing got damaged or lost.

so i guess they should replace it.

I think one of the big issues here is that he had trouble doing his work and so he "modified" your console without contacting you. that to me is not professional so i would not let him do anymore work.
if he had rung and said "hey mate, we have a problem here, we want to modify the console, is that ok" , then that would be professional.

if you have the receipt for the console, show him that and say you will be deducting that amount off the bill.

or, call fair trading and see what they suggest.

Mate go and chat to them and say you wont accept them breaking and glueing it......They replace it or take the cost of a new one including freight cost etc off your bill.
Dont forget to get the broken one back.

I would ask them for a quote of the current work they are doing FIRST!, just so they dont tack on the replacement cost of the console.....

well just called. $250au for the parts!!! postage is the killer $55 pounds.

oh well hopefully they pay for the new parts & don't add it on my bill! :(
