Has anyone seen or had experience with a roots supercharger?

The quality will be long remembered well and truely after the price is forgotten.

Roots is a one brand name for a certain "Design" of supercharger,,, there are many manufacturers of the similar "Roots" type design

& yes we have used them on minis before, that one on e-bay may even be one of our old ones from years ago

doesn't exactly look like a high flowing design does it...

would be good for an old school sort of hotted up resto, but an SC12 would be a better proposition wouldn't it?

Doesn't look like the most sturdy design for mounting to the engine either.
By the looks of it, the whle assembly hangs off the manifuld nuts.

Now THAT would look killer on my van!

Do they normally have the blow off valve on the inlet manifold ? Wouldn't this blow air/fuel mixture into the engine bay ? Seems dangerous

It is not supposed to be a blow off valve, it is really just a backfire valve or pressure relief valve. It is only supposed to open to protect against damage from overpressure.

It is the same manufacturer of the blower I had on my black low'n blown 850, although looks a little shorter in the body. There are pics of it on here somewhere.

The manifold doesn`t look very flowing , But, it works exceptionally well all the same,,, it makes sure all the fuel is smashed dramatically well into the walls of all those bends that the mixture is quite atomised before it hits the combustion chambers

& it`s also quite compact

I ran that exact same type of manifold when i fed my Leyland P76 V8 engine in the back on my old splity kombi ute with a single SU on it & it ran happy through to 6500rpms all day every day,,,

so don`t be fooled about the ability of the manifold to produce the goods

I believe it`s actually a old "Wade" supercharger from the looks of it
