Spent some time working on the custom steering column and driving position set up. Getting close now.

Cleaned up the front and rear subframes of the major chunks of mud and straightened out a few dents in preparation for having them sand blasted and powder coated. Cleaned up more nuts and bolts and brackets so they can be replated.

Did another Oz rack up for a mate's S, I can just about build these in my sleep now. :P
Also machined up a couple of early style `wiper thingys' for Mini King from HDPE to check how they fit.
Yeah you can get moulded ones from UK, but John says the quality is often so-so now.

Worked on the steering column again. Finished some machining, welding and painting. Will reinstall in car tomorrow. Hopefully I won't find any problems. Would have done more today but I had to get to a birthday party that involved some burnouts, will be posting some links in the photochop and vid section.

Started to remove all of the bits of my Cooper S engine in preparation to remove it from the car as I am trying to fix the problem with selecting 1st gear. Very confused :? as it was OK prior to a refresh on the engine and didnt touch the gearbox? :(

Actually DROVE IT(!!!) Shock horror!

I reckon it's been 6 months since she's seen the road - what with the carby being rebuilt, new exhaust and then finally finding time to get her going! Running rough as guts as the timing and mixture are all over the place, but I was able to drive to the servo, fill up with fresh fuel, go to my local self-serve carwash and get home ok!

I've just drained the coolant and replaced the thermostat, but now I CAN'T FIND THE &%$#@#$ THERMOSTAT HOUSING GASKET!!! So it's off to the shops to buy one tomorrow, refill the coolant and then pay mr Tuning man a visit during the week! Almost back to a fully driveable car!!!

Asked a question about it, and got an answer.
Derusted, and took back the paint on the front drivers wheel well and engine bay, and primed.
