On my way home this arfternoon my front left wheel feft the road long before the rest of the car. So I'm now looking for some bits & pieces for a repair job in Queanbeyan this weekend.
What suppliers would be best for
A 8.4' disk & backing plate & posibly a rotor (or four studs as their bent)
& possibly a lowercontrol arm & ball joint?
MAy need a another wheel as well (92 cooper) wont that be fun!!
Don't ya love minis.
(its really not the mini's fault

You know the noise your car makes when the wheel nuts are loose but yur sure they car't be cause you tighted them up tight so you dicount that possibility? I do! NOW!!!!!
So the car came to a stop ON the disk after the wheel flew off not before tearing the flare off & damageing the gaurd.
I will be ringing car craft in the morning but I may need a lower control arm as well & I know that even before this I needed to replace the radius rods on both sides as they have seen better days.

day-um.....bad luck dude. Sorry to hear about that.

I had a mate who lost a wheel in his old HX Kingsy. His wheel bearing ceased and he sheared off the stub axle, with disc AND wheel still attached......nasty!!

The first time I drove my 'K' I had loose wheel nuts on one wheel....nasty sound that is!

how do wheels just fly off?
is it the studs, how tight they are (or not) is it coz of your driving style, fatigue, rust...

a couple of years ago my mums 96 pulsar was making this wierd noise in the front wheels and it sounded like the CV's had gone when we had a look all 10 wheel nuts on both nuts were only done up finger tight, one nut was holding on by 2 threads, a week earlier the car was in for a service and after they checked the brakes they didnt tighten the nuts up properly

My wife and I bought a brand spankin new Lancer in 2001. We took it to Ultra Tune for the first service...and they forgot to put oil in it after draining the sump!!! We got home and thought....what the hell is that ticking noise??

NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!

(Ultra Tune - Winston Hills, for those who are interested)

If you want it done properly, i say do it yourself ;)

Got very  MAD!!

The car has done 30 000k and seems to have a bad tick when cold...I say it's from that day they didn't put freakin oil in it!

I would never EVER use any Ultra Tune again...they are shite!

If it was running with NO OIL, the Lancer engine would probably seize!. I would have insisted on a brand new engine!!

A local Holden dealer (who will remain nameless) managed to set fire to our 2000 Jackaroo Turbo Diesel when it was in for a service in Nov last year.

So now after an insurance payout, we have a 2001 model, no thanks to them though!!

I'd be doing more than getting mad

I have a similar story, one of my sisters friends was driving around in her lancer for weeks with the oil light on. I was over my sisters house and she came over and she's like "oh, this lights been on forever, what does it mean"

I'm like uh...oil! popped the bonnet and check the dipstick..NOT A DROP on it..okay..so I proceeded to jack up the car, placed a tray under the sump and undone the plug...serveral moments later....d..r..o..p  I didn't even get enough oil out of the sump to COAT the bottom of the tray...

Filled it up with oil and she went her merry way, stil oblivious to what she had done...

This was sometime last year..she's still getting around in it :D
