Okay, my alternator recently packed it in on my 998 clubby, and I'm getting a replacement. I've found some that are 45 amp on the net, but will that be enough?

The smallest ones at minisport are 57 amp, and there are uprated ones that are 70 amp.

I figure that if we're running at 12 volts and 45 amps, this should give about 540 watts. My new sound system is just over 200Wpk-pk to the speakers (so this should drain no more than say 100W including the head unit). Headlights are about 60W, wipers not too much.

That gives >200W plus ignition. 45 Watts should be heaps, shouldn't it? I have no idea how much the one I've got produces.

Can anyone who knows something about alternators shed some light?
