The few times I've had a wet dizzy has been when I've gone to start it again after driving in the wet

hmm... i might get out the trusty hair dryer and dry it all and see if that helps.

Simon knew what I was thinking.
Pull the leads out of the cap and dry inside the holes. (do one lead at a time if you don't want to lose the correct order)
Clean the top of the cap. It is the road grime on the outside of the cap that causes most problems.
Remove the cap from the dizzy and clean and dry the inside of the cap, making sure not to dislodge the carbon contact.
Dry the inside of the dizzy.
Pull the plug leads off the plugs and clean and dry the plugs.
Clean the outside of the plug leads.
