hmm... i see your point.

considering its going to be a "show" car i don't exactly require running that much boost, but it will be a hell of a lot more fun. :P

Im not knocking you at all - but re-read your post... and then decide if its a show car or a driver. If its for show - boost mean jack... so yeah throw on the turbo setup, make it all look bling and leave it at 5-6psi.

Why run 16psi where you will more than likely snap things (I bent, valves, pushrods and snapped alot of other things) by taking shortcuts... when I finally got the wallet out and put in the right parts... no issue. Problem for you is that most of these parts no-one will ever see.

So - my point here is if its a showcar it can run very very slow boost (if any) so spend your money making it a show car and looking good rather than a power house... it all costs big $$

No worries - good luck with it and the project.
Take lots of pics and stuff and let us know progress.

Cheers,
Pete

You could leave the impeller out of the turbo and then you could drive it on P plates.
Policeman says "That car has got a turbo" and you reply "No it don't"

That's a rather amusing idea :P if you were going to do it though you'd want it sticking half way out the bonnet just for laughs, and attention  .

tis a good idea, but... you would have to rip the turbo off each time your getting pulled over just to prove its not working.

Just let the cop go for a drive. He will soon know it isn't working.

So i just had a silly thought about the whole avgas illegal on the street idea. I suppose if you had fuel injection/electronic ignition and a fancy computer, which you could change the tune on the go, then you could use 2 tanks like cooper s setup. But have one tank full of avgas, and just put a tap on the tank. Drive around on pump fuel, get to the track and change it over to avgas!

Pfft - bring back the Super from the pumps :) Thats Avgas - Leaded fuel... I remember the old XY Falcon Dad had burning the stuff up.
Then I remember the XD I had, 351ci and my mates convincing me that using straight methanol at the drags would take at least 3 seconds off...

Ok, lets do it... didnt make it to the creek - hydrolic lock and blew things to smithereeeeens! Well, back then it was just fun... now I have to explain myself to the Minister of Finance (wife), the EPA, the Engineer, the RTA, the neighbours, the cops, the kids... and mum cause she still says "When you going to grow up and stop playing with cars" blasphemy I say!

Pete
