Happy 'cos Mini is now in the garage at last. '98 Rover Mini Cooper.
Thought I'd have real problems with parts etc did'nt know there is such a great following of Issis' own out here.
Just joined the Vic owners club too, live in Geelong.

G'day Folks,
I've just found your terrific little forum, and thought I'd say hello. The 'S' in pic below (or more accurately, certain components there of.. ) was my first car back in 1972 and I've never had the heart to part with it. (Damn! Now you can figure out how ancient I am !) It led a very turbulent life, initially as a hard-driven road car then a club racer, dirt/forest rally car, reborn again as a road car/ club racer, then again since the early 1990s as a Group Nb racer. Most of the action it sees today are hillclimbs and sprints, but it's still used regularly on the roads around West Gippsland (Vic) with CH plates and always a buzz to drive.
I'm glad to see there's still such strong interest in the little Bricks.

Hi, and welcome.

We too have two Rovers. Not as new as yours, 1993 & 1994.

We are also in the Vic Mini Club. Who is doing your compliance?
Looking forward to meeting up with you and your Cooper.

I go by the name of Jack (among others and not all are nice) I used to have Mini's way back in the '70's but never had a Cooper S. :(

I bought my Moke last year from a person in Brisbane. It has a 1310 motor with oil cooler and air horns (helps with the braking). Since I bought it I have redone the suspension with hi-lo's, fitted MX5 front seats and put the hardtop on just last week.

I am a member of the Gippsland Car Club and am learning to be the Course Steward.

This seems a great little forum and I am pleased to have found it..

Yes, up until a few years ago I ran the car at most of the Winton Historics as well as a fair share of the Phillip Island and Sandown events. Even visited Malalla (SA) a few times, for their Easter Historic event - which along with Winton (short track) is one of the best Mini circuits in the country.
Frustration with CAMS, the increasing costs of circuit racing licences and event entry fees as well as the win-at-all-costs attitude of some competitors led me to reasses my involvement. I've gone back to rallying, but this time tarmac special stage events like Rally Tasmania.

Just wondering if you ever race at the Morwell Hillclimb? If so, might catch up with you there sometime...

Yep! Done a few laps at Morwell. Should be there this weekend for the twilight meeting on Saturday, look for number 64. I think it's also a round of the Vic Mini Club champ'ship so there should be a goodly number of Bricks present.

Hey, my name is Heath

I'm 21 and I live in Geelong, Vic... I saw Poee's mini yesterday and noticed the ausmini.com sticker on it, and now here I am :) I've been searching for a mini club or something, and I've finally found it.

I own a '76 998cc? white Leyland Mini. I dont know much about them, or cars in general, but I'm hoping to gain a hell of a lot of knowlege so I can do up my mini a bit. At the moment it's at the mechanics... The master cylinder went on it, the lights are dim, dash lights dont really work, air filter was clogged with junk, getting new leads, serviced, tuned, and a few other things. Cant wait to get it back so I can drive it once again, I've been without it for over a month!!!!!!!! Im dying. Might get it back tonight or tomorrow

Welcome Heath. We may get to meet up at Geelong sometime. The club occassionally does cruises down that way or some of the ausmini guys organise cruises as well.

For club info go to www.mini.org.u It is the Victorian Mini Club Inc. website.

Hey Curly, I will be at the twilight meeting and will track you down. I am the apprentice steward out there at the moment but you don't have to call me "Sir."
