The quote I just heard was

Some idiot on 7 news wrote:
... some drivers are still dicing with death in the Burnley Tunnel

Read: They're changing lanes.

Since when was changing lanes a life-threatening exercise!?!?!?

Yeah, I've seen that one before. The cynic in me reckons that's an ACA stunt...

You can have a car accident reversing out of your driveway as easily as you can minding your own business on a freeway. The point here is that for a while there in a knee-jerk reaction the Victorian State Government was thinking of making lane changes in the Burnley Tunnel illegal on the strength of one fatal smash.

Illegal? Changing lanes? Give me a break.

Now the toe-rag "journalists" on the commercial channels all preach the sanctioned government line that "changing lanes is dangerous, you're risking your life, bad citizen.. we must find a way to fine you".

/end rant

and the fact that it happened in a tunnel means what exactly? would have been the same outcome with or without the tunnel. perhaps we should just ban changing lanes all together as 90% of drivers cant do it properly regardless of where they are.

No, my missus asked the same question though. I told her my mini is Indigo blue, not green. No wonder she didn't notice I spent a grand putting the original wheels back on! I don't use the tunnel, its safe but too expensive.

The funny thing is that around the world in a lot tunnels it is against the law to change lanes.
And if the law says that you can't change lanes then why would you? It may be a silly law in some eyes but it is a very easy law to obey.
