Ok, although in Adelaide and my trip is in halt mode for a couple of weeks, i still need to get prepared for the Oodnadatta Track and Beyond.

So i put a list together of stuff i think i will need to take with me, i may be going overboard a bit, but if you can think of anything else that i have forgotten let me know

Maybe 2 wheel studs to go with the spare nuts, and a wheel bearing.
Also fit one of the spare fan belts in place in between the fan & engine and cable tie out of the way. Works rally cars always had a spare "ready to go" in this manner.

I was thinking of a spare radiator if space permitted (they're not heavy) or at least getting yours pressure tested before leaving when I noticed the lack of radiator hoses in your list

Also ask if Steve will donate a box of miscellaneous nuts and bolts in mini sizes and threads. He must a couple of tonnes of them laying around with the number of old bodies he's dismantled of the years.

I'm not sure where you get them from but look into hiring an EPIRB (emergency position indicating radio beacon) so if you have a serious problem (accident , fire , whatever) you can call help quickly .

Oodnadatta Track was where I broke an accelerator cable (in the Land Cruiser) - Only did a short stretch - pretty sandy - got some sand mats? (I know Minis are light but you can't carry it 100 metres) And don't attempt the Stoney Dessert - you won't clear the gibber

If your getting an EPIRB (and I wouldn't go without one) make sure it is a 406 with GPS positioning. Never go anywhere you shouldn't just because you have an EPIRB either, it can take a long time for rescuers to get to you. But most of all, have a great trip!

Have you got a 300 mm by 300 mm bit of 10 mm steel plate to jack the mini on in sand ? Also a couple of small tarps , one to lay on while removing things and one to work on so you don't lose springs , nuts or bearings .
