Hi people,

Tommorrow I'm going to secure a deal to buy a rover mini.
I will take the car for a drive, check engine fluid levels and rip it apart looking for rust, should it pass, what am I going to need to do to make the car mine?
I will check all the rego papers, import papers and that the body and engine numbers match, but anything that anyone can tell me, point out, suggest look for, listen for, ANYTHING, please say so. I haven't owned a mini before let alone bought any car privately.
Thanks.

Check how they fix their rear seatbelts (retractable).
This is a condition of registration in most states.
Also; side intrusion bars, sun visors,
But this is only SA.
And tehres lots more things.

More importantly it is the colour of a nationaly autherised car.
Others may not be eligible for rego in other states.

yeah make sure it has a GREEN compliance plate (normally found in the boot)

check for rust i guess? around the headlight rims!...UNDER the back of the back bumper,
lift the carpets, lift up the spare tyre to check out bad the rust is?....

Thanks people,
I've already had a look at the twice, there is no rust in the boot that I could find, it was only on the outside near the seams in a couple of spots. Today, I'll rip the car apart looking for intrusion bars, and more rust, check all compliance plates and paperwork and take it for a drive to make sure everything sounds OK.

other things you may want to do is get a revs check to make sure they dont owe any money on it cuz if they do and u buy it.... it becomes ur debt....

o and also u can ring a place and they will tell you if it has ever been in a accident.. cant remember the name though... maybe someone else knows.

Congratulations Harley. Can't wait to see you driving your very own Mini.

Maybe now you'll come up to Minis on the Murray?

Doubt I'll be there, If I get it, it'll spend the first month in and out of mechanics until I know the engine condition.
