Well you are going to have to fit an ecu of some sort - ABS won't be ABS without a puter driving it.

the kits you can get have an ECU built in

I'm sure it's possible with enough cash and engineering ability, but personally I'd rather expend the effort and money on something else more necessary.

If it don't stop good enough try fitting 4 pot calipers, 7.9 discs, vented rotors, etc. Then practice up on the traditional Mini driving skills of left foot bracking, going sideways and handbrake turns!
