No problem with a `71. Problems are with the late Clubbies that have (had!!) `emission control' plumbing to comply with ADR27A. 8)

my 77LS has a 1098 engine in it (i think from a 74 clubman), and no one has ever batted an eyelid at me about it. strange, i thought someone would have said something.

might get a 998 block one day and transfer it all over so that it keeps the performance of the 1100, but has the 998 engine number to go with the rest of the LS gear.

Had the block decked on a 1275LS to get a good seal & bump up the compression.
Bonus was no engine numbers to worry about!
Whacked it in a '76 Clubman & didn't even have to fill out a form.

Mind you, probably didn't help my chances when someone went and stole it

Don't worry Kev, I would never do that....way too dodgy!

I'll pull the head off this new 998 and have a look at the bores...it might be cr@p anyway! My original 998 bores were OK.

I wouldn't mess about- just hone and re-ring your 998, or spend a $$- throw a 1098 crank & some 1152 pistons in it..

....or pay you to do it....

If I can't get my 1275 (as mentioned to you) I will have no choice but to do that. I kinda think that this new 998 has an 1100 crank in it, so I will find out soon.

...but yea, I hear what you are saying

Don't write it off yet. Maybe your 1275 is a later one.
The A+ one in Barney was once in a UK 1275GT.. early 80's.
 Hmmm... I could legally drop that in the Clubbie and stick the MK2 S one in Barney! Then he would be kosher! 8)

Engine mounts same, top steady bracket (on head) and rad bracket are different.
