The problem I had with originals is if all you want to do is fiddle and play with cars once you get the original to original condition it is a bit limited as to what you can play with next. So you either go and get another mini to do up to original or you have your modded version that you can continually modify. So it is sort of nice to have a moddifying mini as well

I'm almost glad my car doesn't have all that much historical significance - now I can do what I want to it without fear of reprisals from crazy Ausmini and car club people!!

Ha Ha Ha

Seriously though, although I'm not all that much of a purist and I do love a nicely modded car, If i DID have something significant like a Cooper S or Clubman GT or similar I would keep it original - partly for fear of my safety and partly from a pure investment point of view.

My 1.5 cents (depreciation)

Hey,

If I could get a 100% original Clubman GT, would I frowned upon for adding 13" rims, racing seats, maybe a new colour exterior if it needs a paint and various other bits n pieces?

With just over 1000 Australian GT's ever made (making it a very rare car indeed) you'd be crazy not to keep it original.
I have 2 GT's at home - one is being restored to a full spec rally car (as it was used as a rally car in the early 70's) the other will remain as a stock original.
We already have a modified Cooper S which I'm sure many don't like.
I am a big fan of the Clubman's and if you're lucky enough to find yourself an original GT...............hang on to it.
