SO, I thought I would roll out my car at the muster today. Time is at a premium now so figured if it sells, it sells. If not, I'll just keep it.

Now if anyone has paid someone to do a professional paint job on a car you would know its not cheap. Today, some kid after having been told by his Dad to, offered me $400-$500 for "the shell". After laughing at him I politely declined his ludicrous offer.

Now I'm a realist, I appreciate that the car is not currently complete, but what favours are you doing anyone by telling your son he could acquire something for 1/10th of what someone has spent on the car?

What annoys me is, this person may well be on here......

Teaching his son how to get a rise out of someone......and its seems he might have been successful. I'd say he was just kidding around.
But seriously that is a very nice paint job........why sell it now when so much
of the hard stuff is done?

Rise - fair call.

Completion - Time, time and time. Three things I don't have.

It doesnt look like it needs too much more work. Certainly far less than starting from scratch.

I am a whole lot more inspired after today. If no geniune interest rises out its appearance today I will finish it.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one looking at stripey today JC and thinking he'd be a great project (with or without the starlet gear) if only I had the time ...

The kid (or his Dad) might have been hoping you were desperate to shift it.

I've made stupid offers on stuff before and to my surprise had them accepted, so you can't blame the kid for trying.

Don't take it personally, it happens every day. :)

Cheers,

Reminds me of the insurance valuation I got on my leyland van..... new paint, Reco stage 2 1275, disk brakes etc. All prof. done and this insurance guy tells me it's worth $800.00, but seeing as he's feeling kind he will put it down as $1000.00. not happy. Needless to say I insured it elswhere!

FOUR HUNDRED BUCKS..?? Man everyone knows its worth at least $600 - $700...!!!!!

ROFL.

Hey its like my dad always said to me. If you ask all they can say is no. One day there will be someone out there desperate enough to sell for whatever they can get for it and BANG you have yourself a bargain. If you dont ask you are never going to know....
