thats all i know on the subject

Stuart, can you link to the exact page please.

2 things..
1. I would change oil often, mine gets done every 1500miles and never had sludge.
2. Extended magnet on sump plug (from MiniSpares etc) is a good idea.

Chris,
I had one in my car for over 30K miles without any problems. Moved it to another gearbox and it was as clean as the day it went in. If you live in Pommgolia and don't change the oil or indulge in circuit racing and do bad gear changes it might be an issue but in OZ for everyday use - no problem.
If you don't already have one be aware that the early ones will only fit 3 synchro boxes. The later ones will fit both 3&4 synchro boxes.

Regards
RonR

Thanks for the info Ron. I can tell a good story about sludge. A bloke who used to get his EFI Cressida serviced religously (it did taxi type mileage) brought his car in one day to my workshop to see why the bearings were rattling. We got the motor out and the sump off and pulled sludge out of it by the handful. These motors had a reputation for it apparently due to how lean they ran....so we were told.
