I bought the overrider kit from MiniSpares and it didn't come with fitting instructions. Emailed them and they say it was included and are basically no help at all.

Was hoping someone had instructions in a pdf?

Looks pretty straight forward to install, but would like to know if there is a template so I don't start drilling holes into my bumper that I will later regret.

I presume you are looking to fit Cooper style overriders and the associated nerf bars. If so you need to carefully consider where the holes for the nerf bars should be drilled. The positioning of these holes determine:
A) The height of the nerf bar which must run parallel to the bumper bar itself, and
B) The final position of the overrider on the bumper. This is less important on the front bumper but on the rear bumper you could end up with the overrider too far along the bumper and interfering with the opening of the boot.

Another consideration in this is the profile of the bumper itself. Some bumpers are fatter in profile which means the overrider tends to sit higher up the bumper.

What I have done is to fit up the overrider and the nerf bar on the bumper before drilling holes to check for correct positioning. Even go to the extent of sitting the bumpers on the car at this stage to check that they all look right. Once you're happy mark the bumpers for the holes to mount the nerf bars, drill holes and do final fit.

I know it sounds all a bit fussy but there is nothing worse than seeing nerf bars at the wrong angle or too far along the bumper. I have written down the measurements that I took from mounting mine and may help. Let me know if you need them and Ill look them up for you. But again, remember that these measurements are for the bumpers that I have and may not necessarily be the same as yours. From memory on mine there is a bracket conveniently mounted under where you need to drill and of course gets in the way. You can drill straight down through this bracket and the bolt goes through and into the bottom of the nerf bar. Can send a photo as well if this helps.

I will most likely be masking the bumper bar to present scratches and then do a trial fit before drilling. Didn't realise how critical the positioning of the overriders were.

Could I trouble you for photos of the mounting behind the bumper? I've got the backing plate but not 100% sure how it is meant to go on.

Measurement for nerf bar mounts that suit my particular bumpers are:
From upermost point (highest) of the bumper = 1.05inch
From end of bumper = 2.1 inch

I used a piece of masking tape to help mark the position then drilled a small hole first. Use a 5/16 " drill an then drill vertically down through the bumper (and bracket if fitted). Hold the bumper in the position it sits when mounted on the car. This will cut an elongated hole for the bolt so that the nerf bar can be fitted in the correct position on the bumper.

On my bumpers there is a small support bracket located directly below where the holes need to be. I drilled through the bumper and this bracket. The angled spacer then fits between the bracket and the bumper (see photo).


The next photo shows how the overrider is mounted with the plate in position.
