The problem with getting the Timken thrust bearings is they were the original flat type, made for the M1100, 850, Cooper and early S which all used a coil spring clutch diaphragm.
From 1965 on (when diaphragm clutches standardized) no Mini was fitted with these.
The whole world thinks they are superseded by the later (crappy) one, if they even know this bearing existed.
So big demand would not be there.

do a search under surplus bearings in Aust. There are a few companies that have some stock of the timken brgs. The other ones that I sourced from them were a R&M part No GR 5/8 B . These are Ransom and Marles made in england good pommy stuff, as good as timken.
I think there may be a few left,I did not buy them all when I got the old style bronze caged RHP gear box bearings from a couple of these companies.
Another company to try is AWB bearings. The branch in adelaide is sourcing me some NTN brgs that are similar to the timken, but 16mm bore.

we'll just had a look and luckly its not the bearing but the Slave rod and piston all the way out..so possibly the clip gave up so at least I can get one of these tomorrow and put it back together again. But I still need one of the bearings for the van and one also for justin

Something else to look out for. I've found on the new AP diaphrames that the thrust plate is now soft :( :( They used to be hardend. I have been swaping the old thrust plate for the new ones.

It seems a bit sad that some of the replacement mini parts are now so cheap (in quality) and there seems to be little alturnative in regards to off the shelf replacements. :(

have had the clutch almost to the floor for a while and have swaped a half dodgy can master with no luck. Wife was dropping our boy off at daycare this morning and had no clutch. we have been hearing a sound when the clutch was engaged so I thought it the bearing had gone. But opening the bonnet I found the piston out of the slave. Clutch arm is/was a new old stock and not bent at all

OK if the arm (even though it's new it might be worth checking the ball on the end hasn't broken off) is OK then yes I'd be looking at the release bearing and the thrust plate on the clutch diaphram.

A bit of a pain when it's the wife trying to do her daily errands and this happens....we can all live without......wifes?

the 3W5/8 is bigger diameter. And flat face.
