yeah, i emailed him and said as long as the
engineer that engineers the conversion is
ok with the emmisions and says it complies then
it is ok to put the 1100s motor in Elmo !!!! so fantastic
(i was always going to get it engineered, i want to
do elmo by the book) so its great!

BUT NOW FOR SOME OPINIONS / HELP

Vivians motor is out and the head is off (boy its a little nasty under
there and there is oil/dampness in the chamber so the
oil rings are gone i think, so the head is getting reco'd, im
putting a reco box on and obviously the block is going to get
honed before the new rings go in, but while its apart i thought
why not make the most of it and maybe fit a 1100 head (i have one
under da house -12g202 is the casting) a very mild cam and extractors?

but im driving it everyday so does people think that perhaps
this may be a little silly and i should just keep it standard, or does
any one have any ideas (eg cam to use, a 266 might be a little too much?
or whatever) feedback would be greatly appreciated! :D

Its time for some work on the motor.. 8)

for a 998 I'd do as you are doing with the block but I'd chuck 1098 crank in also....Box is a Must...CAM RE13 or I have a 731/631 cam. The head get it cleaned up and check the normals but may be get some work on it..Just a Little You know

What carb have you got...and do the Pulsar Dizzy and you will have what Josh and I have alsmost 45 at the wheels

thanks Gaf, well aa little more on it, moved number 1
cylinder down to check the bore and OMG!!! very big
scores/gouges out of the bore, like so deep i dont know if
even going 30 thou over is enough!! what ia m thinking is
buying a reconditioned short motor (998) and using that
instead of trying to save my block!

carby wise, it is su 1 1/2 and iv already organised the
reco box, so i think distributor will stay old cos this is a
BUDGET build, i am poor uni student know so i need to be a
little tight (well alot actually  )

Chris....if you reckon you can register Elmo with an 1100s motor, then surely I can register JAM with this replacement 998 (1100) I have. Apparently it's from a 75 clubby....

If I just use it, then JAM's motor is spare to me.....maybe you could use that? All looks OK in the bores to me, and ran fine before coming off the road.

What do ya reckon?

Somone opined recently on the MM site that a 998 makes only a slightly better boat anchor than an 850 does, these days.

"Ain't no replacement for displacement!" :P

Nahh, (nice though, its been saved in my personal list!)
Kev and I just have a friendly little rivalry going on .....
He reckons that big blocks rule, i think he's full of crap. :D

My goal in life now is to kick his arse around wakefield.. just once..... just once....

I might have to wait until he's in a wheelchair, but I'll do it !
