Hi all,

This is my second attempt at posting this up as my Internet decided to take a smoko for a few minutes

I put on my exhaust today, started her up just to see if it had any leaks and how it sounded, after doing this about 4 or 5 times it just cut out and wouldn't start. I think i'm out of fuel. I noticed a white-ish/blue-ish smoke coming form the breather on the block. Is this just fuel vapour or is it something more serious like oil, worn tappets? etc.

I also noticed, everytime I start it up a red light comes up on the dash (clubman) it's in the fuel/ temp gauge and is located on the bottom left side. what does this mean? Is it accessories on? Oil pressure?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thankyou,

Leighton

The red light (i'm not familiar with clubbies) is your ignition light. They come on when you start the car and will stay on until your alternator starts producing a charge, which should be just about straight away.

As for the smoke, i'm not too sure.

It should have a red light and an orange light. Red is alternator charge and orange is oil pressure. Both lights should come on when you turn the key on and go off when you start it.

If your car has had an oil pressure gauge fitted the light will no longer work. (but you can fit a light and a gauge with a T-piece)

Yes.
If you touch the wire against the block the light should come on. (it works as an earth wire to the light.)
