Agreed too, sorry NG.. I think you've had enough of this lately.

And blokeinamoke, what you said first could also be called ""bullsh1t"" and then second version was also a ""detoxed"" version too. So I accept, and respect your revised opinion,,, don't mean I agree, but I respect it. :)

Sooooo, since this is turning into a ""scientific study"" on A series powered mini's and there possible acceleration capabilities... does anyone have any 1/4mile tickets? :) I reckon they're just as impressive as dyno sheets,,, maybe more so,,,, anyone got one? :)

I got to operate a machine with 250 hp pushing 300 kg.

I figure it got to 100 in about 4 seconds.

It was a honda jetski with a 4 cyl 4 stroke supercharged fuel injected donk, tiny unit too, would fit in a mini nice 8)

My car does it in just over four seconds.

My mini though, I don't think it can reach 100 at this point. Maybe if I really really really really push it, it could reach 100, but it seriously wouldn't like it. If it could though, I'd be guessing somewhere around 35secs??

willy's 136hp 1412cc stroker, open wheeler diff and old tyres, did a 14.8 sec 1/4 mile in my brothers 490 kilo sports sedan.

Time slips to go with it.

I would have thought 1/4 mile tickets would be of far more use here than dyno sheets , since we're measuring acceleration for the "real world" you need to take wind resistence into account wouldn't you ? On a dyno it's only driving the rollers with a (variable from dyno to dyno) calculation of drag as opposed to realistic drag from the air ??? Or have dyno's improved to the point that you can have a realistic drag co-efficient for each car shape ?

I remember years ago a young rev head at Tafe with a newly rebuilt SLR5000 , put it on the Tafe's dyno and was showing everyone the top speed and 1/4 mile time on the printout . He thought he was set and made huge bets on his Torana for the drags at Glen Innes the following weekend from "knowing" what his car could do ..... then lost a fortune as it did nowhere near as good as the dyno printout said

Yeah thats what I was getting at... I have seen so many motors that pulled big numbers on the dyno mated up to the wrong gear ratios and diff ratio and wrong driver and then do misserably on the track. Hp on the dyno is only a part of the picture. Glad someone else sees that :)

I find that overall gearing in 1st, and tyres are a limitation for standing start acceleration.
With Mk2S gears, a 3.647 diff, and fresh A008s, wheelspin sets in at about 4500 and continues to 7500+.
