Maybe Matt Reid can get those tricky friends of his to start making Cooper S blocks.

That chinese steel has gotta be better than 60's BMC by now....surely?

60's British metallurgy has to be their pinnacle, surely? ;)

Chinese don't know much about metallurgy it seems.
All their steel seems soft compared to Oz steel of the same (supposed) grade.
Their shafting bends like reo bar...

Yeah... and it will cost $50K to do so in parts prices :D

Which will probably still be less than a 'real' Cooper S, Clubman GT or Sports 850 will cost in 10-20 years time. :)

Well I bought 1 as my clutch master tank is cracked :(
I laughed, the actually copied the triangle pattern on the lid but say 'Lockheed', and on the tank it says 'LockReed'.

I don't care at least it won't leak! Mind you I had to use my old cap seal, bit dodgey.

Shouldn't it be LockRead?

hee hee

It was almost going to be "LookRead" but ""too""" many changes in patterns & the chinese have (even more) trouble understanding :-)

it leaves my own special mark on the product for future reference

it`s just a tiny little hint of a change that very few people would (or have)noticed generally,,, otherwise they`re a "Perfect" copy, i also had them make the crush tube in the mounting points from Stainless steel as the olde std issue steel ones tend to rust & bubble up

& yes i`m talking with them about CNC machining an all alloy engine block & steel 5 main crank & con rods to suit,,,, """But"""" with the intention to have 2 different cyl head bolt patterns,,, one for the 5-port & the other for the Bimmer twin-cam cyl head pattern

It`s going to cost lots of money tho but we`re talking seriously about it with some big money people (only cause i don`t have any money)

so who else wants to put some decent chunks of money into the deal to be a partner???

i have placed everything else on hold for this project (that it everything else that i was intending to re-manufacture)

Just imagine people,,,, endless supply of blocks & cranks & rods for our wonderfull little minis

So,,, who`s rich enough & who`s couragous enough to be my sugar daddy/mummy>?????

& no,,, karcraft didn`t have the resovoirs made,,, i made them & everyone who now sells them has bought them from me.
