I guess we'll find out if it's for real in a few weeks (the show starts 11 Jan)!

As we get closer to the Detroit Auto Show, plans continue to come into focus on MINI’s latest concept car. As we reported last August (and again in October), MINI will be releasing a R60 based “Moke” concept that could foreshadow a coming production version.

it would seem if you were set on an original inspired design these pics indicate somewhat of a letdown. last pic reminds me of the "new" toyota fj cruiser :o .either way it seems they have the naming rights anyway....

ive had a thought  , while it may look nothing like the original it may work better as what the original was designed for  (small military like utility). the original was scrapped from army after its proved easy to get bogged......so i was informed. hmm won't this make searching for images of & parts of the original hard to find...eg mini clubman, cooper, cooper s

disclaimer: im no expert

anywhom here's some more i found....

I'm pretty sure that the China Moke people in Australia own the Moke name here.

I don't think anything that BMW make will be anything like the original Moke.
It doesn't need 4wd (just adds weight) and massive ground clearance it just needs very little overhang, to be light weight, open to the elements, good visibilty and CHEAP.

The moke was the first SUV as it was a sporty AND utility vehicle :D
any jacked up 4WD won't be that sporty.

Absolutely 100% with you guys. It looks like a burnt turd.

There is NOTHING moke about it. It looks like it would weigh at least two tones. Bugger that. Whats the point? BMW already have 4WD's?

I agree with moemoke, a MOKE is fun, sporty, practical.

And as far as not being able to use mokes for "off roading" I say "BAH". You can take them more places than you can take some 4WD's... having said that, there is the odd time when 4WD would be handy.

But Moking is the only way to do it. Don't argue, its a scientific fact,,, OK? :)

Why mess with a good thing? Leave it alone!

That's just some fanboy's photoshop effort, i don't think any of the pics linked above are what they are talking about here.

If it's true, I think it could genuinely be a jeep-like utilitarian thing with a hoseable interior. Now i'm not saying it will be good, it may still be an abomination, but I hope it doesn't look like any of those ones linked above !!
