Wouldn't it be nice if people would not hinder everyone else's sales Ausmini forum members or not. If it is not what you want or you can not afford it or better than what you have, let it be. Good luck to them. I thought we were here to help eachother. Unfortunately there are a few members on here who spoil it for everyone and I am sure a lot of us agree. If something is not worth what they are advertising it for I am sure we can all see that and pass it by. No need to put s#1t on it. What would you feel like if the Item for sale was yours and you are desparate to sell it to get the money to pay your rent or feed your kids? Lets help one another for a change. This forum is becoming a Joke for young Kids to hang out.

Hmm, I agree with the only caveat being if you advertise a car as being original and rare for over $20,000, you should be prepared for critical attention, purely to alert potential buyers to a scam. I'm thinking of fake Coopers and the much discussed Moke. I would like to think that Ausmini would be regarded as a trusted source of accurate information in that regard.

However, the prices people are prepared to pay for somewhat rare items (gear knobs, air cleaners etc) is up to them and their ability to pay. I've never been much of a fan of the concours arena, although a period accessory (i.e. an accessory from the 70s era, least anyone read something smutty into that... ) can make me reach into my pocket sometimes.

I would rather have over-priced items be pointed out. When it is a blatant attempt to rip someone off, then being ridiculed on some forums shouldn't be too much of a worry for someone who doesn't really care anyway.

I got ripped off by a fellow ausminier when I first got into Minis, so rip off artists have no sympathy from me.

I reckon if someone is trying to rip a fellow Mini enthusiest off they should be pointed out. Lets say someone is selling an item for $120 and I know where the same item is only $50 elsewhere. I will point this out. ;)

I am completely in agreeance with this.... I am on this forum so people can give me the best advice about things. If people are out there trying to rip me off, then 1. shame on them, but 2. thank you to anyone and everyone that is willing to point it out to me.

The for sale section got locked down ages ago so then people could load for sales without there being 20 pages of commentary there after which i think has improved the forum a lot.... but there isnt that much badgering of people sellnig things these days. Just the completely ridiculous... like that $25,000 moke...

A lot of people here know what things are worth, a lot dont, a lot of people can have the knowledge to spot a fake, a lot dont.

One of the main functions, in my mind, of a forum like this is for more experienced enthusiasts to help out less experienced ones, it keeps the hobby strong.... i think that includes some free discussion on what things are worth, whats fake, and where to get good prices, especially when the advertising is innacurate (like the infamous moke). The more people who give up on their mini's, the more mini's end up in the crusher.

I reckon everyone whos bought a fake cooper s, or been otherwise ripped of would have liked a heads up.

Does this also mean we shouldn't point out suppliers where we can get the same products for a cheaper price?

As mentioned the for sale forums are locked, so people cant flame other peoples sales on here, so whats the problem???

I have heard way way too many people say after the fact 'I wish I'd known' or words to that effect, although in the case of that moke at 25 gorrila's it was highly un-likely that it would ever get up.

This seller I don't think has much ebay experience, starting at $25k. A better approach may have been to start at say $5k with a reserve ofwhat ever he may like (even $25k) and let the market dictate the price. If it is below the reserve,he can then think about it.

Like I said in the thread I started RE that moke..

If some bastard has been told by half a dozen people that he is trying to sell something for $18,000 more than its worth,, and is fully aware of what they are doing,, then they my friend are a bastard.. And I will pull their pants down.

There are plenty of people out there, as others here have already said, that might not be able to recognise a total rip off when they see one. Anyone here who knows better should speak up in the interest of the people who are here to learn.

I agree. Where would we be without the internet etc & exchange of information.

Ok, so someone's toes might get trodden on occasionally.

The rip-off merchants are out in force. Nail their arses to the wall I reckon.

Last year, over $69 million was lost in Oz with scams etc. (that's the reported ones).

Yes, I'd rather speak up and likewise I'd like to know. I'm sick of all these rip offs and scams.

if your going to sell something and your a dick about it, then be prepared to be called a dick. This is the internet, name and shame i say. If you want to rip somebody off, be it a private sale, retail sale, vendor sale, then be prepared for the backlash if your going to be a rich bastard about it.

NAME and SHAME. Or we could send Der'n Hinch around your door.

i spent hours searching for prices to list my stuff at, and listed other stuff at what i paid for it.

i think discussion within the for sale section should be allowed, but moderated.

buyers have questions which other people might want to know the answer to or it helps the seller from being inundated with pm's when the item is already sold.

i also think each post in the for sale section should be made to fit a template, and if it doesnt then it should be removed.

item description
item price
item location

etc, its amazing how many items are advertised that dont have those three.

i also think pics are almost mandatory for anything for sale on here.

i will have more pics on my thread once potatobucket starts working again.

The discussions in For Sales were at times pretty entertaining...but there was too many balls ups caused by claims and counter claims against the items for sale. If the claims held up then all was good, if not then the for sale ad was generally ruined....and too many people chiming in with "too much!" or whatever hair brained thought crossed their mind. That's why the replies were removed at the time, which was received with general applause from memory. Its been like that for so long we've all forgotten I suppose...people don't change however...

Anyone remember a couple of good examples?? Add a link if you do.
