It all depends on what you, as a mini owner, get out of owning a mini. The fact that you like the complete DIY/simplicity factor of the engine, or the fact that you find pleasure in fanging around in such a tiny, spry vehicle (or a combination of the two), really determines the way in which you treat the car.

Some people like keeping minis full on stock and restored to their original condition. Some people like spraying them that paint that is both orange and purple simultaneously depending on what angle you look at it.

To each his own. Don't be a wally and judge others on how they treat their minis, regardless of your own personal feelings on the subject.

IMO... and I'm sure other people agree.

paddy....I lived thru the 60's and there were heaps of conversions being done ...check out some old Car and Car Conversions FCS....and Jag/Anglia blocks being cut down and adapted to race Minis in the UK. I saw some strange and wonderful things...Cortina 1500s in Morris Minor Utes and a Simca Aronde with a hot Holden six...

People have been modifying or "hot rodding" since the forties/fifties....what farm have you been living on :?: :!:  :D

Reverend Fat - to curse and imply your opinion(paddy) as the only opinion demeans the entire purpose of ausmini. Frankly I would love to put a jap tech motor into the clubby but I fear I will lose that "hands on" aspect and satisfaction of creating a living breathing A-series motor with my own hands. I assisted a fellow in Brisbane transplanting a VTEC S2000 into an S2000(funny that!!) and the spaghetti alone turned me off...lol. It would be a nightmare. As for the hybrids here in ausmini, I think you guys really must wake up and think"Hmmm...what can I shoehorn into the mini this week...". Hence why I enjoy coming here so often...

Each to their own - its all part of the fun of owning a mini - individuality

Paddy, I understand why you said what you said, but the way in which you said it made yourself a target.

LOL! If you were allowed to change your username, I would so change it to Reverend Fat! What a cracker!

Some cram Jap crap into them, some (moi) bore & stroke the A series within a mm of its life, some like 'em stock. Whatever floats your boat- they are all Minis.. enjoy `em while we can! 8)

I loved the old A series, and have donated plenty of skin from my knuckles to them - but unless its a restoration, it's hard to go past a drivetrain swap.

Plus there are some things you just can't do with the A series...
