When building your new 1275 motor and are chasing around for new/old set of rods and having them reco'd, why not have a look at a set of these.
There lighter and as strong, with ARP rod bolts. All for the price of $680

They Have a press fit gudgeon unlike the specialist components which have a floating gudgeon(piston mods or teflon buttons required to use)

Contact Lindsay at minis plus or myself at russellengineering.

Very nice...
Are these only for 1.625" crankpins or is there a big journal version too?

Hi Kevin
Only small pins at the moment (1.625) but we may get some big ones made if the call is there for them.
Hi Bubbacluby
The std 1275 rod weighs about 650g.

I'd be seriously tempted to buy some if they came in 1.75" big ends.

They do look seriously sexy though 8)

Just grind your big journal crankpins down to 1.625". Then, it just might last longer before it cracks. (ask GR why)

Is that even true for an A+ crank with the large rolled radii? I know the A+ cranks are better because of the rolled radii at the journal corners so wouldn't grinding the big ends down to 1 5/8" be taking away from the size of the radii and increasing crank stresses?

A+ cranks have much the same problem as the earlier 12G1505 ones do. They are too rigid.
People in UK who race with them drill out the centres of the crankpins. Apart from improving the balance factor (similar to what wedging does), it adds some flexibility to the crank.

Hi Kev
you can run the 1275 rods in the small bores, ihave them in my formula juniour motor, you just have to push the piston out of the bottom of the bore, fit the pin through the piston and rod then push it back up into the bore i use teflon buttons when i do it that way i have at least 8 race motors using the big rods, just be very careful when pulling the pistons out the bottom you don't pull it out to far and let the rings pop out,
BIG PROBLEM.
