Hi Guy's,
I've just purchased a Cooper S that has a webber 45.Some people have told me some of the higher performance engines came with the webber from the factory compared to the stardard SU's.
I've been told the car is ex police.
As I want the car as original as possible can someone tell me if they did or didn't.
Cheers/Ta/Fully tabouleh

Police cars had twin 1.5 SU's No car came from the factory std with a webber. Yes they were used on the facotry race cars and rally cars. BUt they didn't come from the factory with a webber. Dealers MAY have fitted them, but i am unsure.
But stick a set of twin 1.5's on it.

Cheers

Aaron

Spot on Aaron
Not all Police Cars came with 1.5inch SU's many of the early ones still had the 1 1/4 SU's. From mid 1970 BMC introduced the Police Pack cooper S, available to the public. These had 1.5 inch SU's, ramflo filters, no PCV valve, replaced by balance pipes and a plastic Y piece. They had other mods as well. Most S's had the smaller 1.25 carbs. If you want to get rid of your weber "sg" is looking for one and has a good set of twins he may want to part with. Could do a deal guys. If you are looking for the original Cooper S air filter setup, I have a few spare ones for Mk 1 and Mk 2.

Don't believe everything you hear - I probably need both hands to count how many people have told me they had the fastest Cooper S in Australia, and it had triple Webers.....

Anto.

Easy....

Split webers on the motor...... and a complete spare weber in the boot just in case.
