No... I had a new Fiat 124S coupe. Good revver. Nice car on the highway. Too bloody heavy for hillclimbs. :lol:
BTW there was no posted open road speed limit back then. It was the days of the old prima facie speed limit- otherwise known as "name your own price". If you got pinged, you took it to court and had to prove you were `speeding safely'. 8)
All it took was $$$.... :wink:

Didn't the Cooper S do at least 115 mph down conrod straight back in the 60's ?

They would have been turning over 7,000 in 4th gear if they did. And, it is a bloody long downhill run.
I think the fastest non-stock Mini at Bathurst (not the 500 race) back in the `60s only ever got 130MPH- can't remember if it was Don Holland, Laurie Stewart, or Brian Foley.
