As far as I am concerned I swear by the Coolant that TOYOTA sell. It is red. All tests I have done proves that other brands have so many chemicals in them that the radiator becomes an actual "Accumulator" which is a battery and they cause electrolysis. Try the Toyota one it is by far the best. With the other brands especially the flourescent green ones ! you can see that where you have a bit of a seepage say from the thermostat housing and hose you always see how it turns into corrosion as soon as it meets the air. I don't like...

i have no knowledge of it but Hino's run red coolant too and as Hino are Toyota... i'd say it's probably the same thing and anything commercial based gets my nod of approval.

so Convertible Mini, do i just rock into a Toyota Dealer and get some?

Interesting, can you elaborate? I've often wondered why coolant crystallises around leaks.

yes the toyota red stuff is excellent & yes any toyota dealer (or Hino) will sell it to you, it`s not cheap tho,

& nearly all the corrosion inhibitor "goes-off" ,,, it`s just like most things these days, it has a certain active life,,,after which it is pretty-well useless

I`ve had minis brought here to be "done-up" that have been sitting a while, doing nothing, stored in sheds & back yards etc,,,& when we`ve opened up the cooling system the whole thing is blocked up, clogged with crystalised inhibitor,,, the radiator, top & bottom hoses, the water pump & the engine block all stuffed with white-ish-green-ish crud

No matter what brand of gunk you use, make sure you change the stuff out for new stuff at the correct life span or earlier

However,,,---> the old Rolls Royce (SQ36) was the very best there ever was,,, but i believe it`s no longer made, it was an Orange colour & turned green-ish when mixed with water.

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.

You should put your heart & soul into everything you do.
