Yes. When I was taking the photos I took a series of photos of the shift in every position. I just posted the clearest photo even though the shift is not in the normal neutral position, it is towards one side of the gate.

Ok, so gear selector in neutral = knuckles ontop of the diff horizontaly aligned? That's good to know!

Another thing: I dismantled the 'U' shaped knuckel in the diff housing and found 4 rubber shims on the shaft. But then a 5th one fell out from somewhere... Can't figure out where it belongs...?

And I guess the diff side covers from a rod change fit on a remote too? Resp. are they any different? The diameter of the bush seems the same...

Cheers and thanks,
Jan

The left one is the same, the right one is different, a cover from a rod will go on a remote but not the other way.

Yep rodchange side covers will fit. Holes etc are the same.
re this linkage on top-
When you fit the female knuckle to the shift rod up through the diff, the ball at the bottom should be in line with the bottom one on the bellcrank, when it's in neutral and aligned in 3rd-4th gear plane.

the extra rubber washer may have been from outside,,,for the side of the pin at the end to insulate the steel washer from the diff housing (strane they attempt to fit rubber washers in an attempt to make it "anti rattle",,, on the most rattly gear-shift mech known to man kind)

& the roddy/potty type side covers (final drive covers) can be used yes, providing that you`re not using an "S" type diff & final drive couplings etc

Hmmm... Just had a close look at this picture http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... 981#724981 & the ones posted here; looks like the aussis win again... My remote has no cover for the opening in the diff case where the 'U' shaped knuckle sits in... That's probably why it was so filled with dirt and cr*p... :?

Jan,
Not all remote boxes here had these covers, but they do stop dirt and spare parts falling in there.
Just bent a bit of galvanized sheet up and cover the hole. A big pop rivet will do to hold it.

That's what I had in mind. :) Grease it all up with lots of teflon grease and seal it as good as possible.
