So I have tried a known working set of Bosch spark plugs and a different set of spark plug leads and it is still running rough.
The Dizzy cap had a bit of roughness on the contact points, so i scraped that off and it seems to have improved slightly.

I don't think its the fuel filter, I drove to work today at 100 kms on the freeway, and didn't notice any major problems, so its not like the filter is blocked, I am still getting plenty of fuel through.
Its much more noticeable at low revs, like below 2500 especially when the car is cold. When the car is warm it becomes close to unnoticeable from above 1500rpm.

I am going to borrow another Coil and dizzy cap off my dad this arvo to try to find what is causing the problem.
I think the combination of the electrics degrading has caused the NGK's (BPE5's) to die. So my impression is they are flimsy, but thats just my opinion. I will be sticking with my old Champion plugs that I ran before I got my motor rebuilt.
PS my motor is now 1310, twin 1 1/4's, pretty standard porting in head with Cooper S cam, so its not a 'worked' 1275.

Hey Michael,

I had a similar problem once. I replaced the condenser and it fixed it. Not sure if that was the problem, but it certainly worked.

What are the points/condenser like, or is it electronic ignition? Check if the spark is weak or strong.

If the coil isn't performing 100% and causing a problem, closing the plug gaps up a bit more will make it run better if the coil isn't 100%.

Do the pistons in the carb move freely?

Ok, so I finally found it, my points were almost closed up. Had to adjust them up and now its running fine. Think it wasn't tightened enough or something.
Will check the NGK's some time to see if they are still working...

the red bit that rubs against the shaft can wear down unless there is a little bit of the correct grease in there - check it

Weird things happen when points close up. My 1310S motor did that once, it only ran fine (sort-of)between 4500 and 7500 for a few days until I sussed it. Was great in stop start traffic (NOT).
There was a Pertronix ignitor fitted to its dizzy not long after this. Points?? I hate em all! Good riddance.!!
I now like Pulsar dizzys (with advance curve modified) but my 1412 is getting a 45D with an electronic kit in it. Coz I got one for nix. :P
