Yep, me, poeee.

Well at the second last stop, turned the engine off, turned the lights off and got out for a stretch, walk around. Got back in to drive off, start engine, go to turn lights on and HANG ON, that switch is all FLOPPY! ...and of course, the lights didn't turn on.

Well anyways I pulled the switch out, and it disintegrated in my hand. Looks like it had possibly gradually melted after 27 years, well thats wat it looked like in the dark. I tried putting a bit of wire that Cam (Miniac) gave me from one of his neons, but it was too thin and was getting hot. So I just cut the connectors off, stripped the 3 wires back and twisted them together with a pair of pliers, then covered em with some electrical wire.

I couldn't stop at Macca's at the end, cause I couldn't turn my lights off! It did make it back to Geelong no problems!

Unlucky, but at least you were able to fix it :)

When you get a new switch wired up, use a relay so the switch doesn't get fried next time

I had a great one the other night....

Jerry can (plastic 10 litre) moved in the boot during some "spirited" driving...
Knocked the wire off the back of the RH indicator....
bare wire, body....

Well, after the smoke cleared, i found the flasher unit, the headlight wire and the wiper power feed all melted....

Bugger... NOT a good week for the Brick....

I think I might put the angle eyes in, rather than sell em to Macka. So when I do that, i'll put relays in.

Put a spare switch in, after I cleaned it. Gunna put a guide up to fixing inconsistant Clubby switches, it's a MUST!

You know the trip was specified go at your own pace. If you weren't bothered to read your instructions that's your problem :D  . The cars did look better in convoy though.
Good times.
Scott, I left a few switch components in the ash tray in case you couldn't find them.
