So whats it out of? So many different sources saying different things.

At first I was leaning towards 1275LS but after further reading I'm thinking that it is from a morris 1100S. Are all the references to it being a LS motor mistakes?

Ryan

Yes, it's a Morris 1100S. I have a few...
Yes, those LS references are all wrong.

I'll go out on a limb and say 1100S only - same motor in 1275LS, but a different numbering system

Um.. not quite same, all the LS were big journal cranks, the 1100S had tufftrided small journal crank (better) & S rods up until #10,500 approx, then they got the BJ crank & rods.
And, the LS has a 12G1316 head, not a 12G940. Also LS had a breather on the timing cover.

The 12YD motor was assembled in Australia with some local content.
The 1275LS motor (12H902UH) was fully imported and complied to ADR27A.

They look the same but are very different.

The 1275LS never got the 12YD motor.

So am I, 12YD/Ta/H..
As Morris says this is the Oz built Morris 1100S motor.
I also have an early (UK supplied?) Morris 1100S motor, 12Y/Ta/H...

/Ta (not TA) means remote shift, standard ratios.

A good choice. :P
The big journal cranks aren't really more durable (as Vizard thought they would be), 1/2 of them are cracked these days, according to my local crank grinder (St George Cranks).

Good timing Ryan, i was about to ask the same question, the Hot Bricks websit lists them as 1275 LS, but i always thought they where 1100S. I picked 2 blocks a head (12G940) and gearbox while on holidays in Tasmania many years ago and have only just unwrapped them to see what i had. Yet to measure anything or pull the cams out to see what they are.
