That's the site I found one from I was going to buy.
Best three I was looking at:

TFS148
TFS157
TFS126: This is the smallest one with easiest to organise wiring connector. What I'll end up with I reckon.

I don't think any of the other M16 ones are suitable.

Harley,

wouldn't that be too hot? if the bottom of your radiator is at 100C isn't that waiting too long to turn the fan on?

or are you mounting somewhere else?

i think i'll be investigating what thread this is in this housing

http://www.minisport.com.au/prod1575.htm

assuming it is 3/8 gas as the original radiator bottom outlet... just a stab in the dark here.?

then i could use the TFS200, single wire running up to housing which grounds out and turns fan on at 92 and off at 87..

my 2 cents

It probably is too hot but thats a similar switching point to the original rover unit.
Anyone suggest what I should be looking at?

TFS132 is 85-80 degrees which is one of the low ones.
:?

the bottom of the radiator is 1/4 BSP, I think the one in that thermostat housing there would be 5/8 UNF

Ok,

i like the TFS139, but here's one for the electrically minded....

i'm assuming the fan should be running off a relay...

can it be earth (ground) switched and running off a relay?

cheers

Could be grounded, but I'm trying to limit the current going through the radiator.

NG, the 132 sensor has a smaller hex and the plug can simply be cut off and rewired to what you want. 169 is same mechanically, but I'd rather have the smaller spanner in there and not to have bullet connectors on the sensor.

I think I'll order a 132 tomorrow whilst I'm thinking of it.
:D

Keep in mind that the water flows from the engine, in the top hose then out the bottom of the radiator into the water pump. So a sensor at the bottom of the radiator is going to see much cooler temps than a sensor at the top. Something to factor in.

This is the thermostat housing I have on my Moke's engine. It's another type again I've never seen before or since.

My ideal solution would be a sender that replaces that plastic plug. But I'd settle for one that replaces the drain plug in the bottom tank.

By sheer chance one of the two I grabbed at the wreckers is a TFS152 from a Toyota Tercel complete with the plug and a few inches of wiring. According to the catalgue its M16 x 1.5 with 90ON and 85 OFF. Just about ideal.

Having said that, if the thread in my thermostat housing turns out to be M22 x 1.5 I could use a dual temp switch from the TFS205-TFS208 range. This would give the ability to have the small fan behind the grille on one circuit and the main fan in the inner guard on the other. Or even one circuit to power the fans and the other just for a warning lamp. Maybe overkill, but kind of cool. (Pun intended.) :P

Cheers,

i jetted up there a M16 won't fit.

M14 was the closer size but i was not game to try get it in seemed very tight screwing it in by hand.

triton don't sell to the public so i had to go via Bursons, only option is to tap for another thread really.

Measure the thread diameter of the plug the radiator came with.
I'd be interested to see if it's different.
