we`re getting there with this one,,, don`t hold your breath tho,,, you should all know by now,how slow i am to produce things :-)

Crikey big fella you have some inspiration. You never cease to amaze me but shouldnt you finish/fine tune/develop the twinky kits and market them before moving onto another project? You have a good product with them, and something sure to be profitable for you. Focus Matt, focus.

Greg,,, the Twinky kits have sold out,,,, both batches :-)

& if you were here to day, you`d have gone for a fang in one of the Turbo Injected Twinkys ,,,,,, funny enough there`e WAY more coming from them than i ever expected,,, we`ve recently found even more grunt (with a little fiddle here & there) but i`m pretty certain that a new gearbox will need to be produced to be able to cope with these things,,, so we are keeping the boost down to a reasonable 24lbs for race engines & a mild 15lbs for road engines now

24lbs boost,,, with 24deg ign,,, @ 8000rpms is pretty damn serious power i can tell you

if that`s not """finished,,, fine tuned,,,, & developed""" then i don`t know what is :-)

But we have WAY more up our sleeves yet :-)

Shhhh,,, don`t tell anyone tho,,,, if you did,,, then everyone would know what i`ve been up to :-)

Turbos are great to produce big horse power but usually at a cost. You will get big HP on just a five porter with big psi, BUT hey that is not what my thread is about.
This thread is about an inexpensive 7 port job with weber carbs for under $2500AUS delivered or without carbs for under $1500AUS delivered.
You want to turbo a muliti port head? Buy the head only and do the turbo thing, cheap cheap.

yeah well i reckon it`s an absolute bargain,,, how can you do better "Bang for Buck" than that???

& then,,, just imagine a decent port job yeah???

if i wasn`t playing with """another""" fandangled engine-cyl/head conversion right now i`d even buy one

well done Ty & Dave & thanks for the "heads-up" (hee hee)

sorry Ty,,, i didn`t mean for the subject to change,,, i`m all for what you`re doing, Dave Perko knows i mean that, (& i think you do to),,, bargain head & you`d have to be nuts not to buy one

i was being a bit selfish but honestly meaning to add to the title`s theme,,, it would be a good combo you`d have to admit :-)

Sorry Matt didnt know it was all finished and done. Perhaps thats the problem. If I didnt know maybe others are in the same boat. As for hijacking the thread, all ok Matt perhaps adding your overhead conversion would appeal to someone. If you want to have a look at one of the heads mine is here.

noob question; this will work with the RE13 cam i already have fitted to my 1275?
very tempted by one of these as manifold/carb is what's currently holding up my build

If you are talking about the crossflow then yes, will work with your re13.

Somebody does

This is a mate's MGB with an alloy crossflow head and twin Webers.

(Sorry about the pic, but it's the only one I have that shows the engine bay - you can just make out the top of a Weber on the driver's side of the engine)

I 'll try and get some better shots and some information about the head tomorrow - I think he's running the MGB at Bryant Park in the final round of the Vic Hillclimb Championship.

I think they do a B one - Google Pierce Castings. I intend fitting an A series one with a RE13 cam too.

The heads are being on US eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Crossflo ... Mini-1275-

"This is an Auction for a Brand-New-In-The-Box BARE A-Series Performance Alloy CROSSFLOW Cylinder head. This head is sold in three ways though our different ebay listings: This listing is for a bare head
1. BARE HEAD AS ABOVE WITH STUDS, NUTS, WASHERS, HEATER VALVE BOLTS, CARB MOUNT GASKETS, spark plugs $999.95 USD
2. Fully ASSEMBLED WITH VALVES, SPRINGS, RETAINERS, SEAT, WASHERS, COMPLETE ASSEMBLY (plus bolts, studs, and mount gaskets) $1149.95 USD
3. Fully assembled with valves and springs and with TWO Jetted Weber DCOE 40mm carbs and Weber linkage kit. $1999.95 USD (everything)

OK, What you see here is a professionally developed Crossflow head for the popular A-series 1275/1300 head. Made in the USA. It is similar to crossflow heads that were available back in the 60's but it is made of lightweight aluminum alloy rather than Cast iron and the design has been much inproved. This head was created using gas-flow porting technology and the results have been spectacular. What is nice about this head is that it allows you to use your existing exhaust system unlike other heads of the past. It is designed for simple installation and will fit in the cramped engine bay of the MINI when fully assembled with webers. The mounting flange accepts to Weber DCOE or equivalent carbs. They bolt right on with the included studs and nuts. As mentioned above, this head comes from us three different ways and the later two are most popular. We do not recommend oversized valves as this head flows air so well, using large valves has proven to be counter-productive on an engine dyno. We guaranty your satisfaction!
These light-weight (15 lbs.) high strength aluminum alloy cylinder heads run cooler, allow higher compression ratios, and have extremely increased flow rate over stock heads. Heads come with silicon-bronze valve guides and hardened valve seats.

Standard size 1275 valves, springs, and retainers are used or recommended. NGK spark plugs are included. Significant cooling is achieve which is through better heat transfer and coolant flow. This is extremely valuable in the cramped engine bay of a mini.

SPECIFIC TECH INFO:
BARE HEAD WEIGHT: 15 LBS
INTAKE VALVES: 1.3 IN *if ordered
EXHAUST VALVES: 1.15 IN * if ordered
COMBUSTION CAMBER: 23cc
11 bolt head with option with simple drill option for 12th bolt for special applications (cooper S)
Required items: Head Gasket Set, standard fuel tubing and clamps
Optional items: Fuel pressure regulator, Air Cleaners, Weber Top-mount Linkage
We have most of the above available in our other listings

Worldwide Shipping and Handling by US Airmail, Always just $109 USD. "

Alloy 7-port crossflow B-series head is from the USA, probably the same manufacturer and costs a similar amount to the A-series.

That's certainly where these "A" series heads are coming from. Mine was sent direct from there to me in Melbourne.

Yes the 1800 should be a bit more lively. Anyone remember Bill Gates flying Landcrab fitted with an HRG crossflow (7 port?) head and twin webers.

It was painted in the Young Lions BL Australia Works Team distinctive blue and white colours and competed in the then very popular (and televised) Rallycross championships at Calder and Catalina. Against the likes of Brockies XU1, that damn quick Renault Gordini, and lots of Minis including the yellow supercharged Clubman.

The Landcrab (an ex London to Sydney Marathon car fitted with quite a few l/w panels and Minilite wheels) held its own and was incredibly strong. I have a picture of it somewhere, all fours of the ground at Calder in 1970. I had a Mk2 1800 ute at the time and loved seeing the rally cars in action.
