So the number men amongst us (im looking at you morris1100) :D :D

Met a bloke in Alice Springs who has a very lucky find at a very lucky price.

Full Morris Panel Van Compliance plate is Morris 1/71

YJBAV4R5026

[EDIT] should make this clear, want to know more about the car from the numbers

Cant make out all the numbers on the block 9YA???1130

Seems to be pretty original car, old lady that passed away in Alice her son found it on property in shed. This guy ended up with it cheap.

It's a Mini K van, lift up door handles most likely. It should have an 1100 and pudding stirrer change.

Cheers,

Yes, they did, but I'm not sure which month they started. Watto did cover this in a recent issue of TME...

Cheers,

Oh yeah there were vans that had lift up handles, my brother has one (future project) but his is later than that i think maybe about an april 71 or so.

Watto would know approximately when the liftups came in the vans from a couple of mini experience mags ago.

Morris probably would also.

A 9y... motor is a 1litre

i told him he would probably be best to keep it all original.

how rare is the van, i havent seen it yet, so im keen to see what condition its in. I believe he said 1100, but any info to help me help him would be great, hes never owned a mini before.

any info on trim levels, and other stuff

[EDIT] im taking guess here YJBAV4R5026

Y = Aussie Production
J = 1000 - 1399
B = ?
A = Manual

From Morris info from ages ago, Mini K changed compliance plates in late 69 and alot of them didnt have plates, new compliance numbering was used after 12/69

ALL Minis - sedans and vans, had lift-up door handles with burst-proof door locks from 1 January 1971 in order to meet ADR2.

Production for these cars would have commenced in November or December 1970, but it is unlikely that many would be plated before January 1971.

Cheers,
Watto.

watto, it has exactly the same doors, handles, winders etc as my 75 Mini S.

quite a few similarities. as it is a 9Y motor, ive been advised that this is a replacement. Morris1100 advises me that they would have all had 10YJ motors in them.

Ive stripped the rear subframe already :D :D :D :D

under about an inch thick layer of outback mud, it was in surprisingly good condition. Start putting it back together over the next few nights. Floor pan under the car is straight too.

Ill have heaps of questions in time, for now i just want to get the rear and front subs done so its a clean rolling shell.
