I was so surprised with the present that my family got for me on Fathers Day.  I am usually able to guess what they are getting me by the probing questions I receive Prior to the special event, but this one totally blew my mind.

I didn't twig when the wife was looking at our Wedding Album last week,
(38 Years since the blessed event), you only get 25 for murder. but to my surprise I received a set of personalised number plates, exactly the same that was on my Mini as we left the reception oh so long ago. The number plated represent a Victorian regsitered motor vehicle on the 28th November, 1969, 3 weeks before the first showing of the Italian Job.. :D :D

So now when I get some of the old gang together, I can tell them that I still have the same car after 38 years, show them the original wedding photo  and then show them the car in the garage, displaying exactly the same plates, the car still looks identical to the original.

I know all the fanatics on this site can tell the difference between a Rover Mini and a 1969 Mini,  but a mob of drunken old farts may not.. :P

What a surprise and what a great family to think of that. :) :) :) :)

Good one Mrs. Davo, making an old cooper very happy!!

(let's say nothing about it taking a number plate to do the job, rather than ..... )

[edit] to fix a blatant spelling error ;)

Put the plates on and now I feel 18 again,

even the Mrs wants to hop in the back and see if things have changed.....Boy have they changed, for a start we both can't fit on the back seat at the same time, let alone lay sideways...LOL.......

Just sit there and hold hands...............LOL......

Well here they are, exectly the same as the first registered mini I ever owned at the age of 18, got the car registered on the 16th November, 1969. Mini K....

Image

I reckon their pretty cool.....same as the Old Wedding album. After friends have looked at album I tell them that I still have the same car in the garage, and when they ask to see it, they are totally dumbfounded when they see her sitting there is all her glory..

I know its a Rover, but dumb a55, civilians havn't got a clue....
