I am considering buying retractable seat belts and am wondering if any one has installed these themselves. If so .. was the process easy ? Did you come across any issues you could share.

Also I have had a quote of near $700 to have front and rear retractable belts installed. Is this good?

Yes I have put Klippan retractables in the front, all I had to so was shorten the reel's bracket so it clears the door pocket.
As for the rears there are no mountings there standard, so you really need them fitted and engineered as safe. IMO $700 for the whole job is pretty good.

$700 is good if including the belts then it's a bargain as retractables are about $100 each. It is a lot of work and you really need to know what your doing in terms of the rear seats...

where did you mount it doc.

i have a full set out of a rover mini, and i want to put the front retractables in the k van for now (until i can source some original k ones, i still have the buckles from the van, but not the belts).

theres the mount hole at the top of the pillar, but i havent noticed any at bottom, i take it the k had a simple lash belt.

There's a mount near bottom of the B pillar, where the lap sash goes on. You just put the other end of the sash bit on the same bolt, behind the reel.
