yeah i know its going to be a crap situation.. lets hope its repairable..

the engine and the panels around the engine are alright..

the bonnet looks to be alright (perhaps slightly bend)
and it ran and drove alright, (couldnt turn because of the panel against the wheel though)

i think it should be fixable

Nah he'll just tell em to f... off. You can't get blood out of a stone.
IMO insurance (3rd party property at least) should be compulsory.

Easily repairable.
How much is the car insured for?
Who are you with and what level of coverage do you have?
Dose the door open and shut properly?
By the looks of it you'll need;
-front panel.
-front apron.
-front beaver panel.
-A panel.
-A grill and other chrome work.
and that's all I can see. The rest of the panels should be able to be beaten straight.

 No good at all :!:
I get to say it . . . . That'll buff out
I have been in your situation and its not fun . . . If you have a good insurance company and a good panel shop that deals with alot of classic cars you will have no trouble getting it fixed or payed the right amount of $$'s if they deem it a "repairable or statutory write off".
I was lucky when it came to my car I think :!: but the panel shop did an awesome job :D

thats the worst bit when no one stops. The useless bum will probably try and blame you as well so that dosnt help. 10,000 should be enough as long as motor is good

I reckon they'd do a 1/4 cut repair using panels from a jap import 1/2 cut. Simpler and quicker. Windscreen out then a cut at the base of the A-pillar, front of the sill in the door opening yadda yadda...

Shame, of course some would say it was fate's way of making sure your 6 cars per year average was maintained.

It is one of my pet peeves how many people don't understand the difference between 3rd party and 3rd party property...

I agree with the Doc, 3rd Party Property should be compulsory as this is the insurance that covers the other car when you cause an accident. so had it been compulsory your accident causing apprentice would have insurance to cover your car.

3rd Party Bodily Insurance is compulsory and comes with your rego down here in South Oz, it's the main chunk of the rego and why rego is so expensive because one insurance company has the Government by the balls... This should be remain compulsory, however we should be allowed to shop it around for our own suppliers.... don't get me started....

end rant.

NSW tried this and the premiums dropped for a year or two then doubled. In 1995 if you were under 25 and your car was over 10 years old, you got reamed.

I don't know if it's improved beacause I moved to Vic in 1996.

Cheers,
