has anyone tried it?

i just set up a rather simple one using my battery charger and some old leyland spanners.... will check back early in the morning, if any good will do a write up with pics if anyone is interested?

I wouldn't use it on a body shell for fear of introducing more rust.
However for smaller items it works well.

I recently did my subframes as nothing else would penetrate through 50 years of grease mixed with road dirt.

Yup, works well and it's cheap although only practical for items you can suspend in a container.

Works great! Been using it for some smaler parts with great success

I found it works best if you introduce a cage of some sort as annode (is it the annode!?) into the tank which 'wraps' arround the item that's going to be cleaned.

It's also good for stripping paint

I have been using it for years, works great and its cheap to do.

I put the really rusty stuff in then i give it a light bead blast if i want to spruce it for plating etc

Great technique, used it many times myself. One of my favourites was a trailer hitch that had rusted up on the back of a Toyota truck. The bolts were so rusted that I couldn't even undo them with an impact wrench. Since the truck was just a parts truck I cut the rear frame with the plasma and then I stuck the hitch in an electrolytic rust removal tank and the next day everything unbolted easily. I once I cleaned everything up the bolt in receiver hitch kit looked as good as new, just needed a coat of paint.

This thread came just at the right time, my gf has a water tank with no drain full of dodgy looking water. In theory the extra dirt and stuff in the water should improve the conductivity. Anyone have any experience?
Might have to have a go at it sometime.
