Got the magic wand gear stick installed with all new anti rattle spring and pin, gaskets and plate rubber donut seal and foot well rubber seal - gear select is firm but positive - only reverse feels not quite located - only moves an inch or so down - I remember my original moving about 6 inches and really giving a positive lock - but then that was a 3 synchro box this is a 4

What TAFE course are you doing?
I did one years ago, Panel beating for journeymen, a great introduction to bashing the crap out of metal.

Picked up a set of these on eBay. Will be good for 0z50 at Wakefield Park.

Also got a set of T-Bars cheap from the UK. Landed at about 1/3 price of what I've seen over here.

Image

3 parnds also well spent on a sticker for my new catch tank

And finally, not overly happy with this as I was chasing a long leather one (no comment needed  !) I'll see how it looks/feels.

Now to find some more go fast bits....

Fixed my TechEdge 2yo wideband O2 sensor, it was not outputing data on the serial port all the time, had to keep on turning it on and off until it worked. Found out that the line driver/receiver chip they use (HIN202) has known issues, so I replaced it with a MAX232 along with the 4 charge pump capacitors. Works first time every time now!

Jacked the Mini up and slotted in the negative camber arms and adjustable tie rods. As per usual the tie rods where slightly bent, the drivers side more so.

Whilst working on the car, I adjusted the rear brakes.

Now to get the front end aligned. I'm aiming for the following settings:

Front: 1.6mm toe out with -1 degree camber and 3.5 degrees castor
Rear: 1.6mm toe in with 0 degree camber (if I put the adjustable brackets in before hand)

Do these sound right for a road car running A-008's?

Jim

Pulled out the radiator and took the harmonic balancer off...whilst wearing a pink shirt - dammit!

Waiting on a locking tab and will hopefully get everything back in by the weekend :)

Fitted the other rear Hi-lo ( this is a slow job  ) and pushed a wheel stud into the drum putting the wheel back  Now I have to pull the wheel and drum off to retrieve that :(

Last time I put mine together I didn't use a lock tab but I used Loctite 262 Stud Lock instead (on advice from the good Dr). Mine hasn't worked loose yet.

and it never will - Kirsten, don't put another locktab in there, just use loctite and do it up to 60lbft

Fitted the right front HiLo - figured while I had the wheel off I'd put the drive shaft in that didn't make it prior to the move so spent the next half hour looking for them. By the time I found them I had lost the erg to finish the job - next time

oh joy... wat fun that would have been on the side of the road... Sorry to here that Kirsten.. (At least Jay told you, you were driving him hard :P) I'm assuming that you drove home with no tab once you got it out, just to get it home?
