Hello Everyone :)

Been browsing these forums the last couple weeks or so and I am hooked on Mini's ! I just bought one (found in your for sale section) and can not wait to get my hands dirty...

I don't know much about engines but I figure this will be a great learning process... Anyway, he (dubbed Kane from previous owner, and I'm keeping it as i think it suits) is a Morris 68 Deluxe as far as I know.. british racing green (no bonnet stripes yet) and needs a lot of body work... it's got a 1275 bored to 1330/1340... umm anything else you'd like to know? anyway// here are a few pics

Look forward to getting to know people on these forums and learning all about Mini's :)

thanks :) I'm in Brissy, St. Lucia to be exact.. just a few streets from UQ.

The engine doesnt exactly start right now, going tohave to work on what the problem is apart from stale fuel. When I ahd a look at the car initially had to spray some 'start ya bastard' into the carbs while turning it over to get it going but that doesnt seem to work anymore...

The engine might still need a recondition and I might do it over time just for the hell of it so I KNOW its in top nick... gearbox apparently has a dodgy 4th synchro and was advised that instead of just replacing that just to get a whole new/reco gearbox which I've seen is close to $1k !??! Although thats for a cooper S one, that a good price? Anyway.. will be posting more pics of the rust and stuff and asking for advice from peeps in the coming weeks... :) Plan to strip the lil beast and cut the paint back to metal to see how much rust and how bad it is and then go from there I think... arghhh the thought of all that money is already scaring me

Jam, always there for you in the sarcasm department. got to love it.
anyway
I'm sam, loved mini's forever, had a gold LS 1275 but unfortunately had to sell it to pay for honeymoon/moving overseas, but wife loves minis too so i think i'll have one (or two or three but whos counting) for the rest of my life. Beginning to plan our return to the best country on earth (australia for the slow ones to catch on), and so in the market for my next mini. i want it waiting for me the day i arrive if possible.
Enjoying the forums...but how the heck do i change the thing under my name to like 1275 or something better than n0ob...

Start posting like crazy (spamming).... ask big willy for advice....

Seriously, it's based on post count. Be patient.

Either that or pay poeee to have it changed. :D

Welcome Peter, and a good point about looking after treasured memories.
Take lots of photos of cars & rebuilds, and make a backup of your web site!

Very hard to replace either when they just disappear
