It would be nice to be able to drill down into a list and pick out the portion of the project you are looking at for that particular time, and for your particular project. Although I am sure the idea of the thread is to get a detailed assembly plan for the whole car down to a fine detail, the sequence of event is a very important start to a project plan and forms the framework for the process.

I think you can get a good general idea of the most efficient methods of putting a mini back together from the methods used in the factory. The restoration manuals I have read don't deal with the most efficient methods of putting a mini back together. They deal with the restoration of select components of the car, but do not form the big picture. Putting the subframes in and then trying to put the brake, fuel and battery lines in would be a perfect example of a stuff up. Fitting the engine in the car and then working on the rear engine bay fit out would be another more subtle example.

As a clickable restoration guide, I would love to see (and help) this come together.

I'll see if I can convince him to give me a layout of his work of art, so to speak. That would at least be a good start.

I like the idea of a clickable guide. I think that would be incredibly useful.

Sequence is extremly important. I think that this can be broken down into various subgroups. Nailing the critical path is also important for each group and can save frustration and tearing things apart you've already put together.

I was thinking about a factory source for information as well. I sent an email to a friend of mine who was a Mini mechanic in Australia for many years and still builds and races Minis. He might have something in his collection of manuals and documents. The guy who's building my engine has been maintaining and restoring Minis since the mid 60s. I could also pick his brain to get a list started.

That would be great. Send me a PM if you need my email.
