I assume it would be to give clearance when withdrawing the rod from the casing. They are so reliable though I have never had to pull one apart.

Bah! This thread has just reminded me that I didn't order a new seal for this :x
There's no way I'm going to try and refit the 2kg of silastic that was in there before.

even when you were racing on dirt?

sealing up the hole keeps it from being a nice gravel scoop to gunk up the grease in there and wear out the linkages

silicone works the best :)

I never had a seal, I never said I didn't seal it. :lol:

Its not like they even wear out, someone has just been lazy somewhere in the chain of ownership....
