That looks like a good find! I'd very happy if I came across them!

My great grandmother had a Mini Matic years and years ago, and was apparently the light blue that that one used to be. It was sold long before I came along. I've never even seen a photo of it :( I often wonder what happened to it.

Would you happen to have any other photos of the poor brown one, which I think would be an 850, as jacob said.
If you're not interested we possibly could be, especially if it was going to go to the scrap heap :(

Thanks, Evan.

Now the bonnet badge, is this the rare one??

That particular badge would be rare, with its two big screws. But the badge is the common type found on Morris 850s, Deluxes, Matics, Mini Minors etc. before the plastic round one came along ('69?)

The original automatic box isn't around anymore is it? I'd say it has potential to be a very nice car.

YMA2S4 = MiniMatic. Looks like a 68.

A very early one judging by that engine number. What year did Matic production start?

Started production in very late 67 to go on sale in early 68.

Production ended sometime in 1971, mine is a 3/1970 car.
Rumour has it a few got the `Clubby doors'.

From 1969 on, the body prefix became YA2S5.
Nobody seems to know the total number of Matics made.

Well today i went and handed over some hard earned coin and the minis became mine :):) the first one (the white K) made the trip on the trailer from ararat to his new home in Ocean grove, his mate (the green matic) follows tomorrow, thanks to bnicho for the use of the trailer!! Here he is at his new house

Anyhow while i was there i had a bit more of a look at the brown old one that at first glance i thought was pretty rooted, and although some parts are, its actually not too badand if anyone is after a resto project, this could be a good candidate.
After looking past some rotting old firewall insulation or something, i found an ID PLATE
and here it is
Image
TYPE YMA 2S1
CAR 1264217381
ENG SAM/U/H 343425
COLOUR sunburst cream

Now the floor is pretty much gone but the rest isnt too bad, here are some pics

Now that money has changed hands i own all the stuff thats there, and the wife has put the foot down and said i can only have 2 shells and as i said im going to grab the green matic tomorrow aswell as its proper engine. The guy said he is happy to keep the rest there for a LITTLE while incase any of you want to buy it but youll now be buying it off me, he is just a caretaker of the bits and ill only give out his details as to where its actually located (other than the previous mention of ararat) to whoever buys bits :):) So if you want anything, PM me and we can discuss things. Ill try and get more details on the other engines tomorrow while im there
shred the gnar kids

Wow,

The moss or lichen on the windows looks like bullet holes - gangsta style!
