With all the lovely going's on in ausmini the past couple of weeks and to top it all off with the binning's of David's thread,

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=69551

I received an email from him last night;-

From: David
To: GT mowog
Sent: Sunday, March 20, 2011 12:43 AM
Subject: un-real

"Well I have seen everything now, you try to enlighten these guys and throw a bit of humour in and they just deleated the whole thing. Even the person who is responsible has not the guts to let me know why or even own up to doing it.
I am sick of tying to help and get stuffed with the rough end of a pineapple, so this is the final straw, I have pulled the plug.
Now I just have to work out how to delete my membership"

I did manage to read David's post before it was 'moved' and as always, it was high quality stuff. It would have taken David some time to write that out.

(Edit - Gafmo as I don't think helps at the moment)

IMO, David would have to be the most gifted person that we have (had?) on ausmini, not only with his knowledge, but his extraordinary application of it.

David was also extremely generious with his time, offering out advise and information on all of his work, free and at no gain to himself.

This is a very sad day for ausmini and we all should hang our heads in shame.

I'd like David to have a change of heart.

Man, that sucks. We will miss you David, hopefully it will just be a short break and you will be back. I am astounded by the quality of work and posts. So detailed. Don't the b@$tards grind you down.

All I can say is good on you, you twits!

I put up with the same crap on a ford site and it is sad when someone pulls the pin for the actions of a few morons who cannot hold their ego's and tongues in check.

6 month bans usually work(they do where I am)and the offenders usually don't come back which is fine with the forum I am a part of - you dont need them and the club functions better without them.

I hope David doesnt pull the pin; however, I think the damage has been done.

Grow up! :x

PS - Flame at your own peril! I came back to this forum after a 2 year break and it seems that nothing changes with some on here!!

I have been a member of Toymods for about 8 years now. It was my first exposure to the online club/forum scene. It opened my eyes to the value of forums with members posting helpful, detailed and technical advice for the wider community to absorb.

When i decided to purchase a mini, i looked around for a mini equivalent to Toymods. I came across Ausmini. People were generally helpful with their responses to my newbie questions and i began to think i'd found the forum i was looking for.

However since being a member for a number of years i've observed the valuable information and technical resources being diluted by childishness, stupidity and pointless posts. It disappoints me to see this happen, however i accept it's something that's difficult to prevent without a team of strict moderators laying out the law in a consistent manner.

What i can't accept is people effectively driving some of the most important contributors to this forum to permanently leave. I have read a number of David's threads and his depth of knowledge is an asset to Ausmini that should be valued highly.

If you wish to create a forum full of nonsense, bickering and general chit chat, then start 'AusSilly' or 'AusChat'... but since this is Ausmini, i think we need to ensure that valuable mini related posts and members that are mini experts are protected and encouraged to stick around.

Bummer. I liked David. Even though I was friends with him away from the forum, he'd never let that stop him from giving me a boot up the arse if I was wrong. He really is a good example of what objective assessment should be... something that is all to often lacking from the sort of discussions that has been happening lately.

I for one believe that if he leaves it will be a worse loss to the forum than any of the rest of us who've had a dummy spit lately and wanted to leave... He is by far, the most experienced, most qualified, most well seasoned regular poster on this forum.

David is about the only person on this forum, who's word I would have anything close to blind faith in.... and I question everything!

I hope he changes his mind... but knowing what David is like, if he says "I'm out of here", I strongly doubt he'd ever look back :?

This is a sad day :( Not alot of what David said made any sence to me  but i know his info on here was always welcomed by the more tech savvy people. Forums like this one need people like David, forums like this dont need the crap that pushed him out.
I had a feeling something bad would happen after the crank thread bruised a few egos

Sad Day for AUSMINI indeed

the problem is, when you are a 'doer' such as David, and are at the forefront of innovation in the field, you should really be prepared to cop a bit of flack from others, who are most probably jealous, or just feel inadequate... I love the stuff he does, and look on in awe at his head conversions, bike carbs, gearboxes, brake mods etc...

When cooler heads prevail, normal viewing should hopefully resume.

I don't know what to say which has not already been said.

We've tried reason, we've tried asking, then telling, then ordering, and then suspension.

I learnt a long while ago that there are many ways to go after the same result. Each are valid and excellent, but neither methods will mix readily. The engine parts from a wankel won't suit a reciprocating engine, which won't suit a turbine. The end result however is always a rotating shaft, and neither engine has fully superseded the other.

All this chest beating only makes the community look ridiculous, and all for a little bit of tolerance of others viewpoints. We can all make our adult decisions on our own, but like the most instances of self immolation, the genuine ones who have had enough and mean to do it are the ones who go unannounced.

Someone else eluded to this; but what in Hell would any casual visitor to this site see?

Maybe they are thinking of buying a Mini;
maybe they are thinking this might be the place to seek advice and support;
maybe they may even think that they are joining a like minded community.

Are we all behaving in a way that really supports what we all like? Minis?

Would that casual visitor join us all?

By the way, I reckon we are better off with David R than without. No question.

I've spoken to David, he is pretty pissed off right now.... oh  sorry ... I mean "argovated".... I best not offend anyone or this thread will get deleted.

I doubt we'll see from him anytime soon.

I thought you might all be interested to know, that the reason the thread was deleted was because of a joke that I made, directed at david, and no one else...

....which was half at MY expense mind you....

...There was no swearing in my post, I didn't abuse anyone.... it was a remark that I made at david, similar to the ones that TheMiniMan was making about, "ah shut up,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we all know you're full of it :) :) :) :)" ....

Apparently someone found my comment more offensive than some of the others that have been going around and decided they best delete the whole thread before someone went to ACA with it.

Well, its not for me to decide who finds what offensive... so to the people/person who found MY comment offensive and had DAVID'S THREAD deleted... I apologise for offending you, and I hope your happy that David has now left.

I wouldn't normally put something like this up... but it would appear that at least some of the mods are happy to blame Davids leaving on me... well, sorry, but I am no ones scape goat.

.

It really is a crying shame that it came to this.

Hopefully David returns, and everyone wakes the fiddle sticks up.
Honestly.
