Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the support. Today was pretty grim to wake up to go and look at the damage in better daylight today and sunny (ish) weather.
CPOCSM: No CCTV camera's where it was mate. Just a normal suburban street.
clovus: I'll send you a PM in a moment
Got into my policy today, and well for Bluey the basic excess is only $300, but for Gumby its $450. I'm told this is because Bluey has been on the policy for some time now, and so it stays the same until next yr, which will go to the $450.
So I don't know about you guys but does anyone think its really worth forking for the $450 for the damage I have? I then will loose my no claim discount that I've had for years and years now,.
I had to drive to the doctors today in him and well I wasn't exactly happy. Brakes have pooped themselves. They still work (probably better than a lot of mini's still out there) but I always like the "hard pedal" with very little travel for braking. Before I went away on my trip, all hoses were replaced with braided lines, front and rear, new wheel cylinders front and rear, new shoes front and rear, and a few springs, the new yellow type master cylinder, and new clevis pins at the pedals.
So braking was great, could stop it on its nose basically. However this morning, no pressure at all. Goes straight to the floor... I topped up the fluid (half full it was) and pumped, and I got good brakes again. However it got worse, pedal now coming home just will continue to the floor, and only just before the floor will it engage good brakes.. I don't partically like this as you can imagine.. It's still safe to drive, I just have to remember by pedals different.
But my question to you is, why the heck has the shunt in the back caused this? Every things new? Plus no damage in brake areas? Can't get under the back yet, but got the front up and its fine, no leaks anywhere... so this is very upsetting.. stress and time I don't need.. I spent so long over my Christmas break getting my brakes 100% perfect and now its stuffed again because of this... Anyone got ideas as to why this is happening? It seems to me as if theres something in the system that's been dislodged from the impact and has got in the rubber seals? But I can't see how this is "likely"
