Sorry not QLD but I spoke to Newington Tyres today, they are in Silverwater NSW, was quoted $500.00 for 4ea A008's fitted and balanced.

They are across the street from the Sydney Yokahama distribution center.
Was also told I could go in any day, as long as I got there before 2pm he could just walk over the street and grab them for me.

Unfortunetly, although I tried, I was unable to cut out the middle man. But its a good price anyway so I dont really mind.

rang a yokohama dealer here in brissy and he said the cheapest he could do is $160 each  i told him the above price , and he said they can't buy them for that cheap.
Surely it can't be that much difference between NSW and QLD prices....

I might have to see how much courier cost will be...
Anyone shipped tyres from interstate before?

I have couriered a set 17" wheels and tyres from Syd to Melb for a fellow Ausminier through E-GO Couriers, cant remember exactly what it cost, but about $30 I think.

You make up for the price difference in tyres through cost of living in QLD. I am moving home to Brisbane in the next couple of months, was looking at budgets/cost of living and if I stay on the same Wage and live the same lifestyle then I figure I would be at least $3500-$4000 better off.

What about tyres for standard wheels - 145/80/R10's..? I'm not quite ready for them yet, but I ask each time I go into a tyre shop, and no one seems to have a clue as to anyone still making that size... :?

Also, it's amazing how much local importers - not the retailers, but the importers - make on tyres... I recently looked at tyres for my 4WD. I wish I'd looked and organized them before they were quite so desperate. The Yokohamas I had on it before retail at $379/tyre here. Tire Rack sells them for US$129. How can the RRP here be three times the selling price in the US?!?! :x I got a quote on shipping, it would've been $100/tyre cheaper to import them myself!

ok , got it sorted today....
Called that tyre and more in silverwater and had a chat to them about my dilemma, they told me to ring a different shop in eagle farm rather than the one in south brisbane i tried.
Bingo!! $135 each. they even dropped the price to $130 as i didn't need them to fit them for me. 8)
They seemed a bit ammused by them actually, as they mostly do big truck stuff there so they had no idea what they were even for ( they got them in especially from a shop in ipswich today for me).

Chris from Silverwater told me that he has had alot of calls yesterday and today about A008's. Glad to know that he was nice enough to find a decent distributor. Most people would just say they couldnt help you.

He was also pretty keen on my wheels to, wanted to know if they were made in bigger diameter's. Sorry mate 10's only

for those a bit further south of sydney, daniel at jobsons bridgestone at oak flats has looked after a few of the minisinthegong people and is also happens to be a mini enthusiast as well. he mentioned that there is other jobsons stores in sydney so he might still be able to help out
