It was around $50 I think, not cheap but I was happy with the result.

gosh, that's cheap in my opinion. If that did enough for the whole engine? Spray aerosols are now $20 each, and normally i use 2 or 3...

where did you go to get the paint?

I did my whole engine and still have 3/4 of a tin left so if you look at it that way it is good value.

yeah I just order straight from there, if your in Sydney it will arrive either that day or the day after.

As it says it takes a day or so to dry and subsequent coats need to be done after 6 hours I think.

MPA paint supplies at thorneside stock POR15 products, Pretty sure its not off the shelf so might need to give them a call and check.

Forget brands. Paint is pretty much paint when you put it on a sandcast engine block...

Preparation is all. Clean, a light spray of etch primer and a couple of light coats of enamel/acrylic. It will last past your attention span - 20 years at least :)

Cheers, Ian

Por15 will not hold up against brake fluid..

you need to wear gloves and a respirator as it will not come off skin when dry and will give you a mean headache ..

stays on unless there's brake fluid involved

arh thanks guys :)

I thought POR15 was meant to be the paint that will hold up against brake fluid and the tougher of paints?

I certainly want to get something that will fight brake fluid after my recent experiences..

If it works good, I will also be using the same paint (different colour) to paint the inside of my engine bay..

Can someone tell me am I getting mixed up with another type of paint that fights the brake fluid?

If I could get something that fights that, well than it will take most things I hit at it,, ive found brake fluid to be the harshest thing in my "bay" :P

they say it will resist brake fluid.. may be a couple of times but its not what i have experienced.. I had to repaint my transfer cash after a spillage

I would still use it mind you on engines, etc but 2k on engine bays etc..

I have just gone thru this to repair my engine and engine bay after the fire.

Hope this helps

just a quick update for those interested, aftering having a good think about it, my budget, my wants, and talking to some people, I've decided to go down the 2 pak department.

Visited the lovely MrFail tonight and had a chat with quantities and colours for what I want to do. Should be all go ahead very soon
