NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry, but if anyone wants a quote for any major work , such as a re-built engine & gearbox, new alloy rad, new front discs & hi-los & shocks & adjustable control arms & new bushes & & & ,,,, etc etc etc some get wiring done , some don`t, some need all sorts of different brackets & housings to suit their particular application,,, etc etc etc

sorry but i can`t """Quote"""... i give an """Estimate""" only

we have just finished up 5 cars in a row, all having rebuilt engines, overhauled gearboxes, new disc front ends with hi-los & adjustable arms & new brake hoses etc etc,,, some had conversion from hydro to dry, some needed more rear end work than others,,, some got light flywheels & 4-pin diff & bigger cam & bigger head & bigger carb, full extractor & exhaust system upgrades (inc mounts, brackets & straps),,, some didn`t

some needed some "massaging" in certain areas, some needed master cyls overhauled, some didn`t, some needed new brake pipes here & there, some didn`t

some og them got a gearshift mod 9from early to late) some didn`t

some got some dash & guage work,,, some didn`t

some got rust work & panel & paint & some didn`t

but i quite commonly have people comming in here or phoning or e-mailing,,, asking how much for a job like that--> pointing at (or refering to) one particular mini that we`ve sorted,,,, well then comes this long description of what "THAT" particular car needed & cost,,, & of course this other car here was different, even tho it "Looks" to have the "Same" treatment, & "same" parts,,, but "THat" particular car got a whole host of different stuff & started off a fair bit poorer condition than the others,,, & & & &

please understand that it`s not always a straight forward price for "all" jobs on these old girls,,, quite often what may "look" ok from a distance probably isnt

& another car may look like crap but mechanically isn`t too bad at all

so,,, it all comes down to an --> """Each to their own""" type of thing

we can`t do much about a solid firm price until we`ve ripped the thing apart , cleaned & inspected it all,,, & even then we usually find way more stuff to repair as it`s all going back together... get it???

i know i`ve probably had this rave/rant a few times before, but it`s got me again lately & just need to vent again

sorry but it`s barely a ball-park figure able to be produced until it`s more than half way finished

altho i`m not usually far wrong with my "Estimates" :-)

so,,, 5 nearly out the dorr & another 3 comming in,,, same package, same deal,,, but not all the same price :-)

got it???

thank you for flying with miniman racing,,, please be seated & refreshments will be out shortly :-)

Hmmm was thinking it was Beam time... I'm waiting!

Oh so I can't get a quote on a turbo-twinky-1100-with-coilovers & a doof-doof stereo? Surely you pump these things out every day and they're all the same, yeah? ;)

I need to see you about getting some 3-sync boxes off ya too...

cheers,

Jacob

I know how you feel Matt!

Even had a lady ring up yesterday about her car that has problems and wanted to know what we would charge. She couldn't even explain to me what was wrong with the car. She seriously couldn't tell me. When i asked "whats the problem"? she, in a long whinded response, said "i don't know".

How can you possibly even give an estimate, let alone a "quote", without looking at the car, and when they can't even give you a clue about whats wrong?

I build a few engines and gearboxes too, as you say all are different cans of worms. I quote people on the parts and give an estimate (min to max) on labour, but that's all it is- an estimate. It all depends how much grief I find when I get into it.
